ive never done this but im interested as well. i love the heated seats in my other rides and i miss them in my mb wish i wouldnt have gotten the cheap version haha... but then it wouldnt be a C
I wouldn't try the OEM retrofit, there are kits available that are better made today than what came into these cars.
You'll have to find a place to put in the switches or if you're slick you might be able to salvage switches from another car but that would involve getting the wood face to match everything.
As for installation, the seat covers have to be removed- I got a quote from an upholstery shop the other day and they were about $200 a seat to remove my dead heat elements and install new ones. Of course, that was not including removing seats or wiring it up.
Wiring would be a snap if you have any experience wiring stereos or get it done by a stereo shop or something.
Never ordered from these guys but all over the place the prices are similar for these kits. the one I'm looking at interfaces with the OEM stuff.

PS local upholstery shops also have these kits too. Mine did at the same price I would get online.
