C230K trans code p0730

Hello all. I am having trouble with my transmission. It is in "limp" mode with codes p0700, p0730. I pulled the trans pan, valve body, replaced the contactor plate. This was "supposed to repair the problem. I drove the car, still same. I understand that I cannot clear the codes myself properly, they are still active with a check engine light. My question is this, If the car is actually repaired at this point, will the latched codes in the TCM alone cause the "limp" mode condition I am experiencing? And will the problem go away when properly cleared?

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Did you try resetting things by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds or so? You will then need to resync your windows, sunroof and have your radio code.

Did you check the connector and harness to me sure you were not getting a leak at the connector that was wicking toward the TCU?

I looked into the harness from the trans connector. It looked ok. Is the TCU located near the right side of the tunnel on the passenger side floor area? I would like to pull the connector at that end and check it there also.

What about the code causing limp mode even though the trans may be fixed???

I did the battery disconnect also earlier. Code goes away, problem remains. Code returns after a minute or two

No speed signal from N3 rpm sensor

I monitored the N3 wires on that sensor, it never generated any frequency, not showing any speed signal for the TCU. That`s probably why the p0730 gear ratio code. Which sensor is P3? Turbine speed? Why wouldn`t it register anything? I replaced the contactor plate already.

If it were the turbine, my code lists looks like that should throw a 715.

I have never been able to find an reference to matching trouble codes with solutions within the WIS. If anyone knows info. on this, please speak up! I am guessing they don't feel the need to do this since a stealership mechanic has the SDS to hook up and read everything. The Mitchell CD just says that you need to read the DTC memory from the TCU itself, so that is no help.

I also checked Haynes and it is pretty useless for transmission stuff.

D-man, please update your profile so we know the year and model of your car.

Just found RPM signal N3 not putting anything out while driving in limp mode. N2 looks like input speed signal as per HZ on meter VS engine rpm`s. N3 is Dead. Resistance through circuit looks ok, which scares me...like mechanical failure. Is this turbine speed I am attempting to see or output speed? Could there be a key sheared in trans on pulse wheel or something else going on. Just ohmed out harness between trans and TCU, looks ok. Adapter plug is suspect, will remove it tomorrow when it cools down and check it.

Thanks for the help all, When a solution is reached, I will elaborate for all you to reference.

solenoid valve, contact finger

In the manual it mentions bending the solenoid contact finger not sure if they mean the contacts on the plate or actually in the valve body itself. There are some other things mentioned such as metal shavings, filter, and fluid level but sounds like you already checked that out. If you like just scroll down to page 73+74. Hope this helps. B
