Hi, my old antenna mast would only go down 2/3 of the way and when i took it off i realized the bottom piece was rusted to the bottom of the antenna mast itself. after weeks of liquid wrench and anything else i could find around the house to make it come free, i ordered a new antenna. When it came i took the old one off and stuck the new one in. The motor took the antenna and to my dismay it again only went in 2/3 of the way. Theres is a small silver piece of metal that is larger than the rest of the shaft on the very bottom of the antenna mast and it will not go into the hole. I can no even screw it on. Please help.
i recently replaced my antenna mast. can you take a picture of this piece of metal you are talking about? after i replaced mine, it did not want to go all the way down, but now it does. i sprayed it with a little lubricant. i know that this attracts dust and stuff to stick to it, but it was the only way i could get the new one to go down.
right. with the antenna mast out, there should be a metal thing you can unscrew from the car. a new one should have come with your new antenna. i cant remember if its 12 or 13mm. that should be out when you put the new antenna in. and then when you get the new antenna to go in, you can screw that thing on. that part that is too big is what gets caught on the metal piece you screw in, to keep it from extending all the way out... does that make sense?
so your not talking about the screw thing? and the actual unit.. i dont remember what it looks like, i took my whole unit out becuse the motor was acting up. is there anything stuck in the hole? if not, i would say sure, try to get it in there... lol. where did you buy the replacement antenna? if there is something else stuck in the hole then try to get it out.
theres is nothing in the hole..... it dosent go far enough in for me to be able to screw that piece on.. and i'm scard to get it stuck for ever because then i cant even take the motor out if i only get it half way in....
yeah, your right lol. well, where did you get the replacement from? maybe its just not the right one? i doubt that though. hmm, do you have a dremel tool? you could try just lightly filing it down until it will fit, but not too much that it will shoot right out of the top. does it get stuck half way down the tube, or will it just not go in at the top of the hole? i wish i was there to help haha.
ok, i was just going off of the picture online. i can take mine back apart later to see what is up. but first, where does it get stuck at? does it not go in at all? or does it get stuck halfway down the tube?
