The head gasket would be approximately $1000 to replace. Do you know where the smoke is coming from? Cuz my brother's 95 C280 had the same problem plus a leaking coolant. We found the oil was leaking on the exhaust and that's where the smoke was coming out from. We didn't wanna spend so much money on the head gasket, so we used the cheaper way which was using some kind of heat-proof high durable paper to wrap around the exhaust and changed the coolant gasket for $300. And now, no mo' smoke!
its puffing the white smoke out the tail pipe. It looks like a fog machine when you start it and try to drive it. It appears that there may be some water in the oil when i check the dip stick.
Not sure if its worth putting more money into it. plus would have to have the motor mounts done also .
Thank you
Jim
Hello,
I have a 96 C220, just replaced the tranny with a used one has 100K miles. Car seems to shift fast. It shift to 3rd and fourth when it is only 40 miles/hr. this results to a lack of power. Also it seems like it wont shifts down when I slow down. Any idea will be appreciated. thank you
