I recently bought a 1995 C280 - my first benz, and have noticed that after I start my car I usually can hear this reoccurring noise from the back right hand side of the car. It sounds like a motor trying to do something over and over again. It sounds similar to the sound of the antenna going up or the power door locks working. I went back and opened the trunk while this was happening and located the sound, it's coming from right around the area of the rear light on the right hand side. Does anyone have any idea what this is and how I can fix it? It's just annoying and I'm not sure what it is.
It eventually stops and it doesn't always happen. I have no idea what it is. Thanks.
could be a vacuum pump that unlocks the trunk and doors. I was told that it is located back there. maybe you have a bad relay switch in there or something.
any idea if this is a simple DIY type of job or is it more complex to fix what the likely problem is? any idea on the price of said fix if I do take it to a mechanic to get it fixed?

I actually just finished replacing my Combination stalk on my car so the Pump will be the next thing for me . I seems like a simple DIY just ardous because I believe you are going to be testing different lines to check for a vacuum leak. I will be attempting it this weekend. Before that I have to get the Vacuum line diagram from the dealer so I know where the lines run.

I now have the diagram from the dealer and well it doesn't look good. It looks like it can be the airconditioning system Central locking system or the Rear Head rest adjustment. I will tackle the Doors and Rear head rest first but it may the dreadful a/c system
