I have found a few options for Alternators for my car. I have a 2000 C230 however I belive in the car now is a 90 amp but can I run the 150 AMP alternator without any troubles. I have a bunch of audio equipment and want to get the best spark possible since I have to replace my alternator due to a cracked housing. Anyone know if this will be safe or not? Specifications are from an ALLDATA Software Program
If you keep within the 14V rating you should be fine, if you go above a 14V alternator you would have severe electrical malfunction and damage.
If you stay within a 14V alternator the regulator with a higher amperage should feather current upon demand to your electrical system. The alternator like the 150 Amp should be o.k. as long as its voltage rating does not exceed 14V.
