Hopefully someone can help me with my question. I have had my car for a week now. When I drive very relaxed (gradualy increase presure on gas, gradually decrease), the shifting and behaviour of the transmission is perfect is "most" conditions.
When I step on it, once the car reaches about 3,000 RPM it suddenly starts to rev up to 4,000 RPM, this is combined by a loss of power to the wheels (basically I feel the momentum of the car suddenly change when I hit this spot).
This problem also happen when trying to go up a hill at slow speeds but occurs lower in the RPMs. Also extra weight contirbutes to the car doing this.
Also when I have the car floored (like when getting on the highway) the change between 2nd and 3rd can lag, it dis-engages thinks for a second or two then goes into gear, other times it makes the shift very quick but hard and other times it's normal.
So i'm kind of confused since it's really not giving any consistant results. Any ideas?
I am taking it to Bosch tomorrow to have them look it over and probably change the fluid but I was hoping someone could comment on this so I could possibly give them a starting point.
The car was sitting for about 2 months.

My c200 1995; have problem in shifting from 2nd to the 3rd. the problem is that when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the gear seems to disengage ( as gear in N position) and engage again. when I am going slow; you will not notice the gear disengagement and engagment in shifting up from 2-3 gear. But when I kick down and rpm reach over 4000rpm on the 2nd gear- almost before the shifting up happens to the 3rd gear; gear get disengage (as gear in N position) then RPM reash over 5500 for 2sec then shiftup to the 3rd gear.
Bosch checked the car. From the road test the head mechanic said that the transmission is not acting correctly at all and will need the plates replaced. There are people locally that will do this for like $1000, so once that happen all should be a-ok with my car. I'll find out for sure later today as they are going to take the car to a transmission specialist.
I have excellent news to bring back to you all! The transmission after being thoroughly checked by Bosch was found to be low on oil and required some slight adjusting. So $100 for that and a full inspection (since it was a new car to me). I got the car back in perfect condition and runs like a dream!
I'm extremely pleased with the response time, the acceleration and handeling on this car. The C280 is deffinetly no disappointment and i'm very happy now with my purchase.
I am so glad to hear that because my C280 is doing the exact same thing. I was worried that it would be a clutch inside the trany. Do you know what adjustments they made to the car?
