Hey i got a 1998 c280 with 187000 Km on it and have some issues with it, if anyone knoes the solution to some of these it would be greatly appretiated;
- sluggish, acceleration sometimes is horrible and stutters on turns, and when i stop and then go
- BAS/ASR, ABS light go on randomly while driving or when i start the car....also now i have exterior light failure with no light failure lol
- cannot adjust the seats most of the time...i heard it may be a relay or something
Also i only get around 350Km per full tank of gas aprox. (city driving) and no i dont have a heavy foot lol.......(400Km aprox highway driving) Dont know if its normal or not

I'm new to all this, and can only give a suggestion for the above question. If you have the AC running while you're driving turning the "EC" button on (light on; on really means off) will save gas. This is the "Economy" mode, and shuts off the compressor for the AC system. My 2002 c230 also gets terrible gas mileage. Not sure if it's normal or something else is going on, but the "EC" being off helps some. I do have a "heavy foot" a lot of the time though. So, I'm sure that doesn't help any.
I should think a new MAF would solve most of the engine problems.
187,000 km suggests it could be the culprit.
You need someone skilled in automotive electrics to sort out the electrical problems.

I have a 98 C280 with 150,000km and had some of your issues. You should consider replacing your spark plugs if you havent, its due for new ones. Your exterior light failure is working properly, its probably your ermergency left or right tail light or your license plate lights. As for your gas problem, wow... 400 on highway? I do just over 700 km per full tank. Replace your fuel filter, air filter, and make sure your tires are properly inflated. And take care of your vehicle, tune ups, oil changes, and use premiuim gas.
