1995 C220 Front Brakes

I've done a search but didn't find anything - maybe I missed it as I'm new to this forum.

Friend of mine has a 1995 C220 that needs the front pads changing.
I volunteered to do it to save him some cash.

As I'm a Bimmer driver, I'm not familiar with Mercs so I'm looking for any tips about the front brake job.
Anything to watch out for?
Any unusual quirks with the C220 set up?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
sam :-)

It's very easy and probably similar to BMW

Search for 'brake pads' on this forum or slk forum and see what comes up

I know there is a good pic by pic description on the R170 forum by Bazzle (same brake system)

Very easy, just like any other brake set up. Takes longer to get the tire off then get the pads in, lol.

yeah easy job. you can finish in half hour.
By the way, what pads are you using? I'm wondering if they have EBC performance parts for merc.

Brake job done

I've completed the brake job - as you guys said, very straightforward.

I could only find one aftermarket set of pads in Calgary - Wagner - so I used them.
The guy who drives this C220 is retired, so I doubt performance will be an issue!

Again, thanks for the help,
sam :-)

Really That Easy

Sounds like a real easy job. My light just started flickering today. Hasn't come on steady yet, but I am sure it is just a matter of time. I really want to do the work myself.

I have a 1997 C280 and have only changed the plugs, filter and cleaned the throttle body. Can you tell me the tools I will need? I have read a set of allen sockets and a torque wrench. Anything else? I did change the breaks on my 84 5.0 litre Mustang about 15 years ago and that had a piston that needed to pushed in with a c-clamp. Is this the same?

Thanks for any help.

You won't need any special tools - pliers and a C clamp should do it - same deal as your old Mustang.

Don't wait too long - order the new indicator wires when you get the pads - very cheap (if not included with the pads)
You can reuse the old ones sometimes but not worth it
