I've got a 1999 C180. The problem is that if I floor the accelerator, the gear wont shift at 6200rpm(the point where the redline starts). Instead, the gear shifts at around 7000rpm, at the end of the red line.
I don't think it's a problem that needs to be solved. The automatic transmission will shift above the redline because there's a bit of delay between shifts and that delay will cause the engine revs to go over the 6200 RPM redline. Shifting above redline quickly like that will not cause damage to the engine, that's what it's made to do. Driving above redline is what causes damage.
Sounds like your transmission is slipping badly. This is not normal, you should have it serviced asap.
