how to replace spark plugs and where are the plugs in 1994 c280?

Hey, guys

Recently, my 1994 c280 with 98,000 miles ran into rough idle and hesitation problems. From the forum, I figured the first try I should take is to replace spark plugs. But I could not locate the spark plugs and I have no idea how to do the job. Any help would appreciated.

Thanks,
poorsenti

RE: how to replace spark plugs and where are the plugs in 1994 c280?

The crossover tube has to come off. Very easy. Two nuts on the back (on top of the engine)maybe 8-10mm. Then stick your arm under the intake and unscrew the clamp with screwdriver (maybe 3 turns). Unsnap the Mass Meter on the left. Then pull up slowly. Should come up no problem.

Use allenbolt socket to remove the bolts holding the plate down.

Pull up, and there are your plugs.

The 3 black coil ends go bad and cause the stumble, they are 10 bucks each. Might as well replace the wires too. The torque on the plugs are 18 ft-pounds I think. The type of plugs and torque spec should be listed in the manual.

Hope this helps.

Would this be the same steps for a 99 C280?

yes, same process - you might need to check the Mass Airflow Meter as this affects how well the car idles / performs generally
