I just bought a C280 last month and I love it!
Recently though, it suddenly died on me. Now it's with the mechanic and He's still trying to figure out what's wrong with it.
The problem started last Sunday, stalled at the lights and I started it again and was okay. Then after a few miles, it became sluggish, and slowly sputtered. I had to get it towed back home. Everytime I start it, engine is okay, then after a few seconds or when i put it into drive, it will idle roughly, sputter and die down.
I read a few messages here and it seems my problems point toward a wiring harness, MAS, or any electrical problem.
Any kind advices are greatly appreciated.
It's a 96 C280, but it says on the manual built Oct 95. So, is that really a 95 or 96 C280?
Does this problem happen even with the Check Engine Light not lighting up?
Are these parts easy to replace, and my next question is...are these expensive?
fuel filter is a good place to start mainly because your not getting an engine warning light it could be blocked and restricting fuel delivery, also check the fuel lines for perforations and leaks loss of pressure in the system will do the same
Just called up the mechanic and he confirmed the MAS and OVP need to be replaced.
Any ideas how much I should be spending? I just don't want to get a surprise when the mechanic gives me the bill.
Incidentally, does anyone know of any excellent independent MB mechanic in the Torrance,CA area?
Thanks Teky for the tip on the fuel system. I will ask the mechanic to check that too.
Thanks for your helpful tips about my car. I now have it back, and it did need MAS and OVP replaced.
I just notice that the car seems to have lost a bit of power.
Is this normal after replacing the MAS and OVP?
What other things should I look for?
