I am having a bit of problem with one of the gear change. If anyone had experienced something similar with a C220, please advise how it was fixed.
To be specific, 2nd gear does not change smoothly onto the 3rd. The engine raises when the gear is trying to change.Could it be the transmission playing up?
Also, can anyone advise how much a pre-owned transmission costs for the C220.
I bought the car some 6 months ago, and all the gear changes were smooth...
Only after say 4 months, one of the gears started to play up....eg: it took longer to change and the engine Rpm would be high....
The gear change was not like that when I bought the car, the local Benz service people are looking into it.....so far they have not been able to pin point the problem.
hey, have u tried to flush the tranny fluid? or changed it lately? check the level of the fluid throught the dipstick while the car is running. if it's turning kinda brown, replace it. i've had mine replaced and it only really jerks hard when i push it hard or when it's cold. it's alot smoother now though. hopefully your clutches aren't going bad. but a used tranny is not expencive really. around 500.
check www.car-part.com for one in your area.
i had this problem before, there was some springs stucked in the box, that prevents from low maintenance and oil changes, they opened the box and released the stucked springs and changed they oil, filter, but there was no part changing, the bill was not too high.
