RE: What is "limp mode"?

If your car's ECU (Computer) detects a problem which could potentially damage the car whilst in drive mode, it will put the car into "Limp Mode" which will enable you to drive the car slowly to your nearest garage.

Basically your ECU has detected that something is wrong with your car. Your local Merc dealer or independent with a diagnostic reader should be able to read the fault codes stored in your ECU. This will then enable them to determine what is wrong with your car.
