Calling out to all 2.6L owners....

Forgive my innocence in the mechanics here. I see many forms of the 2.3L and even a few 2.0L here and there and of course the notorious 2.4L and 2.5L engines. I see that these automobiles all have performance options in some form. I’ve used the search engine to look throughout the forum for an answer to this but I don’t think that it’s been addressed before. My questions are in a list form to make it easier to skim through them:

1. For my 2.6, what can I do to my baby Benz to turn it into a beast of a machine?

2. Is it possible to turn it into a 24-valve by just replacing the cylinder head (and other various parts)?

3. Is there an intercooler developed for the inline six?

4. And what of a turbo, though I don’t like them that much, are they available? What about a Bi-Turbo?

5. What about the older M3’s, weren’t they in an inline configuration? Could components from their engines satisfy the integrity of the 2.6L?

6. And what about an exhaust system? Now there are sites for these that I’ve seen on the Forum BUT they don’t tell me much, I really want to know gains and figures and such, not comparisons of Rice Rockets or other little Asian import. (I’m really tiered of only finding their sites.)

7. Has there been anyone that has gone the distance with a 2.6L (NOT A 2.3L), and made it into a beast? If so, what were the price estimates to achieve your increased power? And better yet, what were your HP and torque gains?

The only thing that comes close to what I’m trying to achieve has been “Jay’s Intake apparatus, but that really wouldn’t produce as much HP as I would like. Mind you that I’m in the US, here the 2.6L produce 158HP.
Thanks for reading, and I’m sorry if this sounds rather rude, I’m just frustrated in trying to find information for my automobile.

Any performance mod for a 300E mercedes will fit a 260E. The block is the same as a 24v head engine, but just different displacement. Replace the whole engine with a 300E 24v engine for good performance, or contact www.renntechmercedes.com

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/splash/cars/eclass/eclassw124.html This page has engine mods for a 260E. It is the same engine as in 190E 2.6. Those mods work.

engine options

Turbo kits for our cars are expensive, unless home fabricated, because there isn't as high a demand. Check out mercedesshop.com for home turbo fabrication tips. Since you're already running a small version of the m103 an easy thing is switching your engine with one from a 300e (12valve), or an m104 (24vlv). There's a picture of one on the tripod site of the 24vlv conversion, the only problem is there's no room for a turbo. There's also a picture of a C36 hybrid on that site. The 12vlv leaves room for a turbo. AMG put out a 6.0 option go to

http://www.mosselmanturbo.com These guys make nice turbos for mercedes. A little expensive but it seems worth it. Performance specs are on their site.
