2.3-16 rear Hydro shocks Help

Anyone knows the actual p/n of the 2.3-16 rear hydro-shocks and how much do they cost..?
What else could go wrong with the rear hydro system beside the worn-outs shocks ?
Someone told me it could cost a fortune and said to change it to a non-hydro type. Is it recommended and eazy to do ?

The rear hydro shocks are expensive, we sell them for $340.00 each, which I believe to be a good price. You can also check the accumulators or sometimes called the 'air cells', they can also go bad. Usually if you have a problem with your hydro suspension it is one these two.

You can change to a standard suspension set up, we offer it two different ways. First we have a kit with Eibach springs, Sachs shocks and a plug for the self leveling pump, that kit is $625.00 and it also maintains the stock ride height. The second and the better of the two kits is the Sachs sporting set. This kit includes four matched springs and shocks with the plug for the pump. This kit is $899.00 and lowers the car about 1.5'-2'.

You can go either route and in the long run save money over replacing hydro shocks over the years. Good luck.

Tony Downs
tony@bekkers.com
800-624-5410 ext. 16

Re: 2.3-16 rear Hydro shocks Help

The most common failure on the SLS is the air cell (aka nitrogen cell, nitrogen chamber, accumulator, 'coconut'). There's a diaphragm inside the thing which ruptures with age. It's supposed to have air on one side and hydraulic fluid on the other. When it ruptures, the whole thing fills with fluid and your shock basically locks up.

The good news is that they are relatively cheap and easy to fix. I just did one of mine last week. The part was $71 from The Benz Bin and the job took me about an hour. Just jack up the rear of the car to depressurize the system before you loosen any fittings. You'll need an 11mm line wrench and some other standard tools. Refill the system with hydraulic fluid when you're done and run the engine for a while. Keep adding fluid til it stops dropping.

Any more questions, e-mail me.

33.chicago-21-22rs.il.dial-access.att.net
