the drivers side front had two sets of leads going to the speaker? anyone know what the second set was for? It had a connector which I just disconnected.
The second set of leads were for the cellular telephone.
perfect. And I can go how much bigger still looking stock?
4 inchers are gonna have to stay in the front. However, I managed to get 5.25's in the rear deck. Also, I have tweeters in the front.
I never knew why my door speakers never worked until this thread....I always thought they were disconnected from the headunit, but I never checked. But now that I know of this magical amp, I'll see if everything's connected...and maybe even replace the amp. I'm currently in the process of completely redoing my audio....and I mean everything.
6.5" rounds will fit in the rear shelf if surface mounted, not flushed. No metal cutting.
Really? I dunno about other 190s, but my rear deck where the speakers go looks kinda weird. There's these parallelgram-shaped speaker covers that "hook" into the rear deck (lots of these hooking points, hence lots of holes/cuts in the rear deck) and then there's a plastic "cup" that sits under the deck that supposedly holds the speakers...it looks non-OEM...If I were to go to 6.5", I'm afraid either the speakers won't fit in the plastic cradle thing or some of the holes in the rear deck will be exposed.
Also, I just finished tearing my trunk apart for the amp...couldn't find it. Diagram/pictures anyone? Known wattage of this amp?
On the later models that have the plastic molded "baskets" that attach to the underside of the shelf, the baskets can be removed and the shelf trimmed to fit the larger speaker on top.
