Sometimes when I start my 1989 190e 2.6 it idles up to 1500-3000 RPM. When this happens I usually turn it back off and restart it until it idles properly. From what I've read it looks like my problem is my idle servo but I'm not sure where it is or what it looks like. What can I do to get it to stop sticking or should I just replace it. Thanks!
If you are talking about the idle valve,
it is located under the air filter housing.
It's a 'T'shaped cylinder w/Vaccum hose
on both side and an elect.conection in one
end.If you are positive that it is your
problem, you have to change it.When it acts up
its bad.But try this, when the car is idling bad,
disconnect the elect. connection. If the idling
changes, You found the prob.If it don't,then its
something else. And check all your fuses.
Hope this help.

Manny A.

Thanks for the help, Manny! You were correct. I disconnected the electrical cable (and broke the frail clips) and the idle dropped to a more palatable 500 RPM. I reconnected it and it immediately jumped back up to 1500 RPM.

I intend to order the part and replace it myself. Is it a simple swap out or does it require some kind of alignment? Thanks again for the help.

Marty
Marty,
Its a straight forward swap.
Nothing to line up.just make sure
you dont get any vac.leaks when
you put the vac.hoses.Glad I can
help.
Manny A.
