Hi, I own a 1991 190E 2.3 and everything on the car seems to be running fine except for the AC system. Unfortunately it does not produce cool air. The heater seems to be working perfectly but the warm temperatures (summer) here in Toronto forces me to seek advice on why this car has AC problems. If I need to repair/replace anything, how much would it usually cost? Should I consider getting a new car? (Despite the fact that I am a devoted MB owner and would do almost anything to keep my current car.) Thank you for all the help.
Try to check with an A/C specialist whether it has Freon. Sometimes you need to recharge the system if it hasn't been serviced for a long time. You could also have leaks with your hoses and that can easily and inexpensivley be replaced! Another culprit could be the belts of your A/C.
You are probably looking at around $300 + for parts and labor.
Good luck!
