How to change the real shocks?Need help....

Dear all MB lovers
Recently my 91 190E 2.3 went to the shop for a quick oil change. Then my mechanic told me my rear shocks are pretty much dead, but he told me I could possibly do it by myself, by just unbolting a few bolts from the trunk's suspension tower and the links below. He is trying to save me some money by telling me to do it myself, but the instructions are very vague. Here is some questions I need to ask all of you
-what's the price diff. between a original MB and those bilstein shocks
-have any of you changed the rear shocks before? What's the step and how diffcult will it be?
-what kind of tools will it need if I try to tackle the job? I only have a set of wrench and a pair of jack.
thanks
