So far I have two 6 1/2" Alpine SPS-600 for the back and two 12" Type-R with the MRP-M1000 amp going in and its not going to sound to great until I get the dash and door speakers in
Please feel free to comment, and yes I know I should be installing it myself, hopefully they won't mess up my dash!
They both can fit in the dash/door. But if you are installing them in the door, let the Best Buy guys know about the whole hidden amp thing in the trunk if those door speakers do not work already.
6.5" in the rear is fine.
P.S. You could do the speakers all yourself, save for the subs/amp and door speakers. Front and rear speakers are easy.

Reason: Don't put a sub in a 190...it's just ghetto if not done right. *Cough cough, Bob, cough cough*
I have Alpine 4 in Type S speakers in the dash (the 2005 versions which are silver) and Alpine 6.5 Type S in the rear deck. In order to fit the front speakers, you have to trim off two of the metal mounting tabs. Once you get them in they're up pretty tightly against the speaker grilles

Thank you for the reply, which one do you think would be best for the dash, I was thinking the SPS-400 because of the fitments issue you talked about and then the SPS-10C2 for the doors.
I would go w/ the SPS-10C2 for the dash since the woofer mounting depth is shallower than the SPS-400. Once you get the tabs trimmed off, it fits nice and snug.
As for the doors, I'm not sure since my 89 2.6 didn't come w/ the door speakers.

Just curious on how you got the speaker covers to go back on over the 6.5 Type S in the back as the bestbuy people installed them but couldn't fit them back on and it looks bad, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
They seem to think that they can fit 5" in the doors but I told them only 4" will fit without modification, also if it matters I have a 92 2.6 190E.
Also has anyone had success with taking out the stock amp in the trunk and replacing with a 200w alpine amp?

I just recently did a door speaker swap.
I installed some soundstream 4". The OEM speaker is actually 4.5".
4" required a bead of silicone around the edge to seal it.
If you want to remove the amp and replace, you will need to pull a RCA line from the deck to the trunk. The amp is behind the right rear trunk liner. You can use the wires from the trunk to feed back to the doors and the rear.
Here's some pictures.
headunit mess when I got the car.
cleaned up with nice retro headunit installed
here's what a stock door speaker box looks like. The drivers are decent quality.
here's the size of the driver in the box
heres how they look with the 4" installed
heres what the oem amp looks like
here's where it goes
if your headunit has enough juice, you can drive the doors with it easily like this by bridging hi-level out from the headunit [powers the oem amp] and running it right back into the door speaker lines. works for my setup fine but I dont listen loud. long-term I'll be installing an amp in the trunk.

I wound up using the Alpine speaker grilles instead of the stock ones. On the pre 90 models, the stock speaker size is 4 inches, so it's pretty much useless for bigger speakers.

im a best buy car audio employee they think 5" will fit stock, but they wont ofcourse the guide at work tells us that 5 1/4s are in the doors and 6.5s in the rear and no info on the dash speakers. so that explains that just tell them their wrong haha
