Rear Window

Just a quick question, i have a 1990 190e and my brother broke the back window. I have had one installed and i don not remember there being a gap between the chrome trim and the body. I asked them about it and they said that it is a rain channel for rain to run down is this true? I always thought that there was no gap there? Please correct me if im wrong

Thanks in Advance

I do not have one right now but I was just wondering if anyone else had a gap there. Because i just did not think that it looks right, so mainly i was wondering if anyone else has a gap there on their car?

I have an OEM rear window and there is a 3/16" wide gap on each side and along the roof line. This allows water to run down as they said.
