WTF my idle has mind of its own

so after runnin a few erands yesterday i got in my car and started it and right after the motor fired up the idle went to like 1500 then slowly climed up to 2-2500ish then i mashed the gas real quick and it droped off back to norm then i was going to shift into drive and it did it again mashed the gas and nothing it stayed and got a little higher so then i just put her in drive and it went away and drove fine and i checked it again at the house and it did it very little compared to befor and ive had no probs with that befor kindof weird

My idle did something like that two or three times in a couple months. It hasn't done it since I replaced most of the vacuum connections under the hood.

Check the vacuum hoses to/from the idle control valve. They tend to harden and crack, and can cause problems like this.
