ok i just bought a 1993 190e 2.3...the radio has issues so i decided to buy new cd player for it... I can not find anywhere that sells wiring harnesses for this car...Do i have to hard wire this cd player? If so whats the pros and cons of doing this? Any suggestions @ all r welcome!!!!! PLZ HELP
next question...how do you get the old factory HU out? I thought i saw somewhere all you have to do is take out the ashtray but i tried that and cldnt figure that out eithier...
"I don't really have step by step instructions for removing the head, but you need to remove the ashtray and then the two screws hidden behind it. After that, the Zebrano trim panel pulls out. The head unit is held in place by two tabs underneath, so if you use a small flat blade screw driver, you can bend them down (be careful, they are plastic and you don't want to break them) to slide the head unit out). Anyway, after installing the new unit, I realized that now only the right output on my old deck was blown but the left side had a reduced output as well. So, now I had a new fully functional head unit."
ok cool i got the ashtray out an gonna try the head unit next.....i appreciate your help! i stille didnt find the wiring harness i need for this car but i guess its not so bad to hard wire is it as long as i label all the factory wires is it? Whats the cons of this?
Just cut off the original head unit harness and then connect the proper wires. The only con I can think of for hard wiring is that it will be harder to put the stock unit back if ever necessary.
