alright, i'm about to put all this good stuff back together- after taking the head off , realizing that I needed a new one ($450) , getting that one checked out and the valve "job" ($300) buying the parts for gaskets etc ($100) ....
so i'm ready to get it all back on, hoping that i remember where everything goes... and i notice that i've broken the j shaped breather hose, as well as the ribbed - breather hose. So does anyone have a list of those hoses what all I need to get back together? I was looking at autohaus's website, http://http://www.autohausaz.com/sea.../Breather Hose , and I wasn't quite sure what all parts I needed to buy.... hopefully someone can figure this out for me.
Too bad we don't have the same motor. Mine is a 2.6 which is similar but not enough for this kind of detail.
I just had my intake off and photographed all 58 connections (vacuum lines, wires, bolts and screws). I got them all back on properly too but I am going to now go back and replace all the rubber vacuum fittings and a couple electrical plugs that are cracked. Hopefully the rubber "J" and "Y" fittings are waiting for me at the local dealer today. They had to order them as they are different than what the new cars use.
Two tips I would pass on from my recent experience and previous ones:
1. Photograph or otherwise document jobs with a lot of detail (unless you are very familiar with each piece)
2. Old rubber vacuum connections even if they still look OK like to leak a little especially if they have been disturbed recently. These little $3 parts can make a big difference in how your otherwise good motor runs and your transmission shifts. Freshening these up doesn't cost much and can solve a big percentage of isses.
ironically... i did photograph pretty much everything I could , in detail. The thing is , I cannot find a USB cable for this particular camera. I've looked at walmart, radio shack; obviously im sure its somewhere, but i just couldn't quite find it at a regional store. but regardless, i'll pop up somewhere. But photographing everything is definitely the way to go.
