hi i am looking to buy a 2.3 16V COSWORTH but the timingn chain snaped.... i was wondering if it is an interference motor and what kind of time and money i am looking to spend to fix it.... if anybody can help me out it would be appreciated.... like head damage... piston damage and where i can get the new parts if it is interference.... thanks again

Wait. We're talking about several of the valves and some of the pistons right? I do not remember whole heads splitting and blocks breaking off.

When a piston hits a valve, it can also ruin perfectly good valve seats, guides and if there's debris from the contract, then there's a good chance of metal getting smashed into cylinder walls and the like. It's not just "valves and pistons."

But isn't the severity of the damage dependent upon the math of the motor and large displacement Benz motors are less prone to such a cascade of destruction.
