best thread ever
you are a god among the 201 community! Are you on 190rev at all? Your strive for perfection is great to see!
Also, i agree with the getting euros comment.
Im glad i read the whole thread before posting, because i noticed you had new door handles, but not new door handle seals. Glad you caught that!
Great work on the zebrano navigation trim on your 8v by the way! I have quite a bit of experience with wood veneers and clear coating, but yours matches amazing! Care to share and info on the process you use?
Id definitely get Euro lights. Those lights just do not do the car any justice.
Evo I wheels are a subtle mod a and look good.
The rest i would not change!
Id keep the grille stock...Repainted ones look pretty bad when they start to chip.

2.3-16 Front Study in Shop Dust
The front is assembled and ready for examination. Forgive the shop dust.
In the first photo, the bumper, fender, grille, light assembly and hood form a tightly integrated, straight unit. The luster in the paint seems to match the luster of the grill and headlight assembly giving all components a uniform, toy-like shine.
The second photo shows at more of a distance the straightness of the accuracy of the lines.
The third photo reveals an accurate grille alignment.
The fourth and fifth photos are more of the same.
Antenna will be rewired to plug into the existing plug and clips are overdue to attach the port side cladding.

I have been accused previously of seriously altering the basic car by changing the level of quality of the paint That accusation is correct and I plead guilty. The factory never applied a four-and two paint system followed by a wet sand and foam wheel polish. So, the restored car exceeds the original in the paint work by an order of magnitude at least. That was planned and no expense was spared.

The door handles are original but painted with flat black paint. The rubber was replaced. We were brutal with our rubber replacement.
The navigation trim was really very ghetto. We took a zebrano tissue box from Ebay and cut it to shape. My team at Speedworld in Elmhurst did the job. They poured urethane and mounted the trim. Kirk at Speedworld did the installation. It's amazing.

Are you going to repaint the grille also? Or are you just going to replace it with a new one?
The new grille will remain original. Original, original, original.

You have no idea how reasonable the costs are. Mercedes is cutting parts costs and shops like Deen's are in serious competition. Roughly $3,500 will do a job on your W201 that will change your whole outlook on your car.

$3500 for the entire car paint (i.e. 4 base + 2 clear)?? Wow, I should ship my car over to Deen's for that kind of job! Seriously, and 2 base + 2 clear will do fine for me! In northern Cal, I can hardly find any bodyshop that's willing to do the whole car's paint job. Thanks for all the details you put out.
