Hi Lomtevas, if you don't mind, can you post the parts you have replaced with the price so we can get some ideas as to how much will it take to restore a car like this. TIA, Oemar.

I have cleared it with Kyn that I can upload jpg's of the various bills so you will see the accounting of the project by line item number. You'll also see photos of the old parts. Esther will gather together the old parts from the Helms phase of the restoration for me to photograph and display here.
Lastly, today the fuel tank was removed and found to have contained a coat of rust inside at an angle revealing the car's storage position: parked on an incline.
Otherwise all fuel parts are in and most are installed. The fuel tank is the last of the fuel system to go.
Bad looking rubber hoses are being replaced on an ongoing basis.
Reading this whole thread is very inspiring Lom. The car looks truly stunning even if it was vandalized early in storage. Thankfully such a car reached a knowledgeable individual who will take care of it. I just bought an 86' 16v as well with 51k so I might contact you in regards to the car. Keep us posted man!
That is problably not rust in your tank but old gas, they look the same. The old gas "rust looking stuff" will go thru the tank strainer, get ground up small enough in the fuel pump to flow through the filter, then plug up the fuel distributor. I see this all the time when I tear down fuel distributors. If you contact German Star they can help you with the parts, everything you need should be here in the USA.
Thanks Lomtevas. One more thing, is your trunk spoiler made of rubber / something elastic? From the two cars I've seen, the surface of the spoilers are wavy not flat, what about yours? How much is the trunk spoiler with the third brake light?

Run good?
The 16v had a smooth and steady idle with the traditional crackling upper engine sound reminiscent of the dual camshaft sixes of the 280 motors of that period. The hydraulic tappets of today's motors eliminate that sound. However, upon closer examination, the entire fuel delivery system had to go for correct factory operation. I will post information about the motor's operation once I hear it run.
Fuel rust?
Rust is a poor choice of terms. Rust implies an oxide of a metal but dried and crusted gasoline is not an oxide. The crust permeates the entire system to include the gas cap which was replaced during the grab bag phase of this restoration. It will be entirely gone this week and the car will be prepped for body restoration next. I agree with your assessment.
Spoiler?
The spoiler appears to be made from fiberglass painted with the appropriate formula paint. The curved surfaces weave throughout the spoiler. It will be stripped and repainted to appear new. I have not priced it because if a component is operational, I am not replacing it.
