Would like to point out that removing these bolts requires a long 5mm hex key, not the 1/4 socket as the first post in the thread says. Thanks for the help, I didn't think it would be this difficult (day 2) while trying to remove it.

the picture in the post shows the hex bolts I will clear up the post but I use a 1/4 rachet and a 5mm hex socket to this.

I have a '87 190d and was just looking for the torque values for the 6 bolts on the transmission pan. However, after reading through this thread, I'm blown away by the knowledge and helpfulness here so I have a few other questions regarding my transmission. I recently replaced the tranny pan gasket and filter because it had a slight leak that bugged me. I bought aftermarket and put it back together (bad idea). It still had a slight leak and I got tired of it so I just went under and tightened the bolts down. Real Bad Idea! That same day while backing my car in the garage, I got a huge puddle of tranny fluid under it. Luckily (I'm hoping) it happened in my driveway so it shouldn't have hurt the tranny. After removing the pan again, I noticed the aftermarket gasket had split halfway down the side. Well, this time I went to the stealership and got the MB gasket. I asked them if they had the torque specs for the bolts and they said no. I have the info on my computer which crashed big time the same day(and still dead). I believe it was around 14nkwm if I remember correctly????

Also, my 190d shifts into reverse fine sometimes and other times it kind of stalls first and then shifts hard into reverse. It shifts fine into all the other gears. Any thoughts???

Thanks

I have a 190e 2.3-16. When the automatic transmission goes to the final/4th gear, the engine will just rev. But if i put the gear lever back to 3rd, the power is delivered. Just wondering which part of the automatic transmission you guys think is the culprit? Clutch K2? Car is 1987.

FYI...my computer is back up. For anyone interested, torque on the tranny pan bolts is 7nm.

I would recommend having that looked at by a mercedes trans tech but it sounds like a K2 clutch plate issue or a valve body issue.
