Post 190E hesitation problem

Have a 93 190E and am having a problem. Can anyone help?
If I drive my car and gradually accelerate the car runs fine, but any time I push the pedal to the floor such as when I am passing the car does not accelerate just kind of sits at the speed it is at. If I leave off the throttle and feather the gas pedal down slowly the car will accelerate. this happens at any speed. Incidently the motor in this car is a 2.3L. Could it be the mass air flow sensor??/

I'm thinking that it probably isn't the mass air flow sensor, since the car does not have one. In any case, I'll slide this down to the w201 section for you.

The 2.3, 2.6 and 300E series all had an airflow meter mounted next to the fuel distributor.

Without more detail about the car, you may have one problem or a mixture of problems. How many owners prior to you? Mileage? Accidents? Aftermarket garbage installed? Overheating? Occurs only when A/C/ is on? We need the history.

For example, some owners tear apart their motor and don't know what they're doing. There are alignment marks cast into the motor that must be lined up when reassembling. Being off one notch can affect timing. Your acceleration problem can be traced to bad timing.

If the car was in an accident and old parts were reused in reassembly, you may be suffering from fuel leakdown. Your EHA or your fuel distributor may be unable to keep fuel pressure.

What is the condition of your intake boot (between your airflow meter and your throttle body)? Have you checked all the little hoses for vacuum leaks? Have you checked your distributor?

So it's hard to guess at an answer until all the historical details of the car are revealed.

Sounds like your problem is the kickdown switch, located behind the gas pedal. The car idles fine when you are not flooring which leads me to believe you should or have someone replace your kickdown switch.

i had a similar problem with my 88 300te. turned out to be a combo of the distributor w/cap and spark plug wires, so i would check those first.

Yeah, I was wondering about the Kick Down, like does it down shift?

If it does , Other ideas - Three things have to happen.

Fuel needs to be enriched. Controlled by the Air Flow Sensor, the Fuel Pressure Reg and Throttle Switch Position switch. There are tests for all in the manual.
