Thanks so much. The car was owned by a friend of mine and she took good care of the car. I actually ended up buying the car this past weekend and I'm happy with it. It drives like a dream and there are no issues with the car. I have one problem though. The centre vents always seem to blow cold air no matter what setting I use. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something isn't right in the installation. Also, the '91 190E 2.3 has this annoying cassette holder above the stereo deck and I was wondering if there's an optional cubby hole available for this model. At the moment, I have it out and I'm trying to get a custom one built.

It's normal.

Yeah sorry, should've paid closer attention when reading the manual Car's running like a dream! I didn't really like the cassette holders in there, so I had them taken out and I'm having a custom cubby made for it. Can't wait to get it in. Next summer, I'd like to get some rims and some clear lights for the front. Not really diggin' those fog lights much!

Good manual for the w201...

It starts from electrical problem when my diesel had 1 Amp leak. I found fuse in charge. Next step was to find circuit. I bought CD from eBay because of electrical diagrams. This CD appear not to work from other device than drive D: assigned to CD, so I couldn't run it from network, from HDD, etc. But finaly when I got the maps printed, the quality was so poor, so I ordered Haynes from Amazon. Finaly I found circuit manualy, it was aftermarket power antenna (water leak through antenna mast into motor).

Anyhow I got Haynes manual. I thought it will help me to replace injectors, alternator, shocks, and will be helpful in general. Haynes is a famous manual. Right! Waste of paper to explain that drinking coolant is harmful. By another words I did not find this manual professional.

It states that in terms of alternator replacement have to be done: shroud removed, fan removed, coolant fluid drained and radiator removed completly. This is wrong! Alternator is totally exposed from the bottom. It takes 20 minutes to replace this part...

I tried to find it helpful in diesel injectors section... What can I say? Pictorials on Dieselgiant.com were much helpful even they are quite generic been applied to W201. And Haynes? Heynes suggest to start work on injectors from removing manifold. Give me a break!

I have posted here question about differential (on scrap yeards known as carrier, Haynes present it as "Final Drive Unit"). Bearing have to be replaced. Haynes gives step by step info how to replace unit assembly in 13 steps. It names different parts by "undo two screws", "undo three nuts", and no visualisation at all. And here what Haynes write about seals which going wrong with overfill gear oil, or bearings which going wrong with lack of oil:

"Renewal of the final drive unit oil seals is a complex task, requiring the final drive unit to be partially dismantled. This operation should therefore be entrusted to a Mercedes-Benz dealer."

I have communicated with MB dealer when I checked injectors. It become an hour labour per each (190d has 5) plus 320 buck injector. Probably it will be added returne lines, nuts, age of the vehicle... 1600 per injectors, how much 5 hours of labour I don't know (never used MB dealer servise withexception of getting radio code for '91 190E), plus 14% taxes as per Ontario... 3000. More or less. To replace injector assembly takes 10 minuts include cigarette.

Bottom line: this topic is very actual.
