Hi all,
i have a 1993 190E 2.3 engine W201 chasis, i just installed an alarm system with keyless entry at a local shop, but after the system was installed now i have the SRS light off..
anyone can tell what happened and what shgould i do to have the SRS back on?
Thanks alot and i wish you accept me as a new benz member here
If you mean that your dash panel warning light for the SRS system is now off, it is supposed to be off once the engine starts.
However, if it looks as if there is no SRS status light, then it probably fell behind its array and is dangling there not able to be seen.
thanks for your replay,
the SRS used to be ON after you start the car for few seconds then goes back off(normal way)
but since i installed the alarm system the SRS light does not get on at all
also after this issue happened i started hearing (clicking sound) behind the glove box where the relays are located in theside the hood,
i went to the mechanic and he put on the scanner and he said it is ok and might be only the bulb that get burned while the alarm installation process but i dont think it is the bulb since i started hearin the clicking sound from relays area as i told you,

Well lomtevas has a good point. The bulb could be burnt out or it could have fallen out of place and is hanging behind yoru cluster. Have you taken the time to pull your cluster and check the bulbs? It really is not a hard or time consuming job, just be sure to remove the speedo cable.
I have been told by a friend of mine (Tim) that the clicking behind the glovebox is caused by the vacuum valve tree, the thing that works off the air sampling pump and adjusts the cabin air temp. The clicking is normal and you have probably only just started to hear it. You hear it when the set point and actual temp are close and it is the valve that controls the heat opening and closing
Now i don't have a NAM car so i don't have this lovely little irritant. But my friend says that when his begins clicking he EITHER makes it warmer or colder (just a bit)
i dont think that it could be the bulb burnt or hanging behind the cluster cause the guy who installed the alarm didnt play around the cluster
also it was working perfect just before he used his electric meter around the Air bag computer underneath the passenger floor mat cause he wanted to make sure that my car does not have the factory alarm
Honestly it could have been just a weird coincidence. That the bulb may have burnt out around the same time your alarm was installed. Like i said its pretty simple to pull the cluster and check for yourself.
ok i think i will give it a try to check the cluster?
does anyone know any link with pics for how to remove the cluster?
also is there any tricks i should be aware of while i'm doing this SURGERY?
i dont wanna mess up my car now!!!
thanks alot all

Use the search feature with my name and the terms either "speedo" or "cluster"
I have helped at least 5 - 10 people pull them out so there will be some hits.
Kinds like this one

Get back in your drivers seat. Grab the sides of the cluster wall and pull that shit toward you.
