I actually get better gas mileage on 87... Go figure? Since I've played with taking the resistor out I will never put anything but premium in. The engine really does reward you with much better performance. It is worth the extra $2 at a fill up.

So if I tinker with the resistor, I can continue using 91 right? I dont have 92 in my area.

I think so!

I said it before, and, once again.......

Filling up on premium is not that much of a difference in price. (At least to me.) You can "suck it up".

The difference is about a couple of expressos or similar. Your car is worth it! Give her the good stuff.

It's like getting a nice ice blend instead of a regular cup. I'd take the first (and knowing I am from one of the snobiest coffee drinker nations, no Starbucks for me. Thanks)

right there isnt much difference in price....a full tank of premium is only gonna be maybe $5 more than a full tank of regular.

$2.19 RUG - 31.77
$2.39 PREM - 34.65

based on 14.5 gallons

One of my friend own a 1997 E320. He is working on the road and travel about 40,000 miles per year. Up to now he travelled closed to 80,000 miles on regular gaz and haven't had any issues or pigging or else.

In my 1985 190E, I switch time to time from premium to regular and so on. I don't have any milage economy but I "feel" that my 190E respond better with premium.

This will be an "on going" thread because, we will never have the exact answer. My guess also is that in Europ, they recommand premium because of the gaz quality that is not the same than here in North America.

there is a noticable difference in fuels. i ve been using 87 octane for now due to the face that mu car is going through gas like a fat kid eats cake. this is no matter what kind of fuel i use still trying to tweek the car. depending on where you get gas, the stations either the additives they use or the methonal can cause pinging.
