I see a red white blue and yellow wire. Then the speaker wires. I can't get any to display voltage. I cannot determine which one is ground either.

alright lets work with this. The wires you mention are coming from the CAR not the HU right?

Generally Red is ACC (Switched Power, only comes on when key is in the ignition and in position 1 or 2)

Yellow is battery (When hooked up to a voltmeter it should always have a current)

Blue is generally power antenna/remote amp hookup (controls the extensions or retraction of your antenna or the power going to your stock amp if your car has it)

White, not too sure about it.

Now lets go back, keep in mind everything i put up is speculation. Blue is a definite though. You have a WORKING voltmeter? they sometimes go bad. IF you don't know, tap it to the terminals of your battery if you get a reading, then word up its good. you should always get a reading off the yellow wire if its the battery. (Test all the wires anyway with NO key in the ignition, see which one is putting out power) Only one wire should give you a power reading that is your Constant Battery. After figuring that out turn your key to position two (just before starting the car) test the wires again, another one should have popped on and give you a voltage reading, that wire will be your Switched power. white...I'm not sure. If it gives you a reading then get back to me I'll look it up for you. Search back there on a Mercedes brown is ground. if you cant find one, welcome to the real world and we get to put one in (really isn't hard) if you cant find a constant power either (voltage reading when the car is off) we are going to run a new wire for that as well with an inline fuse. Its not hard i did it about 1 week ago for my 16vlv. No problems. So go test your wires and get back to me.

question, do you have a built in factory amplifier in your car?

(hint: look under the passenger foot panel, lift up the plastic cover and if you see a "Becker" box with 2 connectors running in it then that's it)

If you do, then I can give you some hints of which wire is what and how to hook up your wires.

I'm not sure anymore, but I just know, that my car has and amplifier somewhere

Regardless, I was following an electrical chart, and i figured out the wires. The rear speakers for this car can be only connected by tapping the wires before the rotary wheel (which controls where to fade the sound) on the center console and 2 black wires are ground, while another black wire is for the power antenna (with the 2 connectors on it). There are also some other wires used only for the built-in telephone (if you have that) which should be ignored. I'll try to upload an electical wiring chart for you guys if you want for the 1993 190 2.3

You can always run new wires. in my 90 2.6 the diagram i posted earlier hooked my stuff up just fine, fader and all. Power ant was a blue wire in a black rubber shield.

I tested my wolt meter on the battery, and received correct readings. I was still not able to get any readings from the wires. I checked the fuses, and found two of them broken, and replaced them. Meanwhile, another issue has popped up. I was driving home from work yesterday, and after moving one of the exposed wires, the alarm began to sound. Now, I am not able to get the alarm to stop unless I am out of the car with the door locked. As soon as I unlock the door and open it, the alarm sounds. I have not checked under the passenger foot panel for a becker box. I will do that when I get home from work. My plan this weekend is to figure out how to disable the alarm, and then install the stereo. Hopefully with all of the fuses replaced, I can get accurate readings with the volt meter. It has been a pain, but I still love my car. Just frustrated. Any suggestions about the alarm?

Thanks
