The offset, or ET, indicates the distance from the hub. Later Mercs should be around ET40 whilst earlier ones (W123, 126, 107 etc.) are around ET20. The ET isn't an exact science and will vary a bit but I'd guess you'd want an ET of over 45 with a 8.5. The best thing would be to try one on if possible.

I don't know about rims a lot. If some one could explain what I should be looking at when looking for new rims.
I know that 17" are the max size i should look at for a 190e.
what does offset mean any way??
Thanks in advance
I have simillar AMG chrome rims with 17x7.5 ET-37 for front wheels and 17x8.5 ET-30. You need to put 215/40/17 tire to avoid rubbing issue.
Look at the back side of the rim there are some number like 17 7 1/2 last number is the offset ET.
means this rim is 17" 71/2" wide... Hope this helps.
I'm not 100%, but I think 17X7.5" is the biggest rim that would fit a 190E. 17X8.5" seems kind-of wide for the wheel well & the rim might stick out past your fenders, unless the offset is towards the back-hub of the rim. Try them out & if they fit grab them as soon as you can. They'll make you car look sick from the rear and the stance look even better....
p.s. "Sick" meaning awsome,amazing,incredible,outstanding etc......
