Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, and I have a problem.
My CheckEngine light came on, and I don't know how to pull the code(s). Can this only be done at the dealership, would it be best to get it done at a dealership? Or can this be done at home?

this problem might be simple... in my case it was a blown fuse on the OVP relay. I would start from there. Any other symptoms? Weird idling, stottering, lack of power?
By all means, try to stay away from the dealership. Most probably there will be plenty of advice other members can give you.

Yo Ruudje,
Thanks for the heads up as to what I could possibly check. I'll be sure to check my fuses before I leave later today. As far as any other symptoms, there really has been nothing noticable to me.
However....
For a couple of weeks before it started raining here in SoCal, my ABS wasn't functioning. The light would stay on FOREVER, it'd idle low and it would take a lot of time to accelerate to whatever the appropriate speed was when I'd leave. After the rain, ABS started functioning again. Could it be the brake sensors? I was wondering if it was because the car was still cold but after the rain, the car's been working fine. Anyone with thoughts on this?
One of the symptoms of a bad OVP relay is that the ABS light will stay on. Had the same problem on my sister's 1991 190E and the new OVP relay solved the ABS light problem, as well as the hard-start condition.
The OVP relay is located behind the black plastic panel behind the battery. To get at it, it's a little easier if you remove the "Klima" relay (for climate control system) and the fuel pump relay, so you can get your hands back in the tight spot where the OVP relay is.

And yes if your are working on the 92 2.6 thats in your sig. there is a way to check the codes your self.
The x/11 ? plug is located in the battery area by the strut mount. (black plug) it may or maynot have a cover on it. If you look at it closly you will see a lot of small holes and a LED lamp. There is a tiny button on it.
Turn the ignition to the on position. (engine NOT running) Go out to the plug push the button down on X11/4 for three seconds and release. Count blinks and repeat three second hold, until same code comes up again, that is if there's more than one. Then push and hold button for eight seconds and release to clear code. Repeat if more than one code stored. If there is no red light when you push the button you'll need to trace voltage.
Here is the list incase you have a code.

So, yesterday I finally was able to tune-up my car. Got the oil change done, changed the spark plugs, yada, yada, yada. Anyhow, so I get to finding out what's up with the CEL and go over to the X/11 or X/14 plug and do what I was advised to do. I held down the button for 3 seconds but no light came up. I believe that my CEL is still ON so now I don't know wtf is going on with it.
yeah, I did it in ON w/o engine running, ON w/ engine running... the light just didn't go on after pressing the button for 3 seconds. or any other time for that matter
