How hard is it to remove speedo cable from tranny ?

I'm trying to remove the cluster, but can't seem to
make enough room to put my hand behind so I can un-screw the speedo cable conector.
I've tried from the left & the right vents & even from the bottom.
Thanks, Spiros (Hyprr 1)

You have to do it from the bottom, unscrew the panel and put you hand trough the right side, you have to push
aside the air plastic hose and let the car cool down cause you can burn yourself in the heating metal "pipe"
, just power your way through and you will succeed, i'm 1,86m and 100kg and my harm is thick and doesn't fit
in the left side vent, so if i could do it then you could to!

Keep cool

There's about 289,000 wires under the cluster. I don't see how I can get my hand through there. I've tried but I'm scared I might disconnect something.
thanks, Spiros

Go behind the wires, it's the only way man!

Hi,
can only confirm what was said before. Had the instrument panel out a couple of times and for me it works best to remove the black vent hose starting at the right side - then reach up thru the cables and disconnect the speedo cable. Then, from behind, you are able to push the cluster out - no special tool required.
It helps to have car in a heated garage. Cheers

I've had my cluster out many times. Fortunately I *am* able to fit my arm through the left vent, but that aside, don't worry about unplugging something, because I assume that you'll want to unplug everything on the cluster anyway, so you can replace the speedo cable. All of the wires have unique plugs, so there's no chance of accidentally plugging something back in to the wrong place.

The very first time you remove your cluster you'll probably feel a bit nervous, and it may be difficult to get it out. However, after having it out once, you'll figure out the tricks and you'll be able to get it out and back in fairly quickly.

Good luck, and don't worry about breaking stuff, it's all pretty strong!

Wow, she looks nice! Yep, I've got tons of photos of my baby. I just took some more today, but since it was rainy and I haven't washed her in awhile, she's a bit dirty and wet. But hey, women are always more fun when they're dirty and wet. [:D]

By the way, that last pic is from before I had Euro's. I just can't believe I was ever able to put up with ugly DOT headlights. I'm so glad I upgraded. [:)]

RE: How hard is it to remove speedo cable from tranny ?

When I went to the performance place yesterday to get my steering hub, I asked the guy there how much
does my steering wheel cost new?
One of my best friends gave it to me last year for my b-day.
The guy said it costs about $380 Cnd.
Anyways, I installed it & it looks great.
I also picked up a exhaust tip. My whole exhaust is new from cat back, but was missing a exhaust tip. Probably will clamp it on next week.

Hey n0alpha,
love the way your car looks from the front.
See ya
