88 190e trans HELP! when trans warm up, no shifting - Benzworld.org

1988 190e 2.3 with 256k miles. As soon as trans warms up (about 10 miles), The trans will not go to 2nd, 3rd etc. Reverse and nuetral work fine. All elsa great, just damn trans. Any ideas ? Just changed fluid and filter with No change at all.

What happens when you shift the gear stick into second or third?

Nothing. I can move the shifter into 2,3, D and it stays in 1st. But again, it's fine cold.

This is tough. I would take it to a tranny shop that knows mercedes. Shift points are controlled by vacuum I believe so you might want to check the vacuum modulator and its vacuum on the passenger side of the tranny.

Thanks! Trans shop says same thing. As soon as I finish the lawn, changing a couple diapers and taking the trash out, my wife MIGHT let me go play with this some more. My money is on you and trans shop are correct. Will post later.
