Rim Size

What is the best rim size for a 16v. I have seen 18" & 20". What offset would i need for a larger rim and would a 20" be to big and look funny? Dont want any rubbing when i turn. Another question is the best air intake for these cars? Thanks Chris

RE: Rim Size

I think the best are 18" if you put some 20" the car will look like allroad vehicle (ugly)
Cold Air Intake more HP[:)]

RE: Rim Size

If the roads in your area are glass smooth; you don't plan to lower the car; and will be doing some fender modifications, rims larger than 17" will work.

17" will give you a decent amount of sidewall to protect the rims from potholes. The amount of sidewall is important to maintain some degree of speedometer accuracy, since you want to approximate the OEM rolling diameter.

With any wheel purchase, check the offset and wheel width for potential problems with rubbing (inboard and outboard).

As for the intake . . . unless you're going to engineer a truly "cold air" intake system, more than just a tube and cone filter in the enginey compartment, you already have a very good ram air intake system from Mercedes-Benz.

RE: Rim Size

I guess it would be best to go with 17" with a 35 offset?? I saw this.. Worth it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7980704430&catego ry=38634&sspagename=WDVW

RE: Rim Size

I would much rather spend that $140 someplace else on the car. AMG modified the existing Mercedes air intakes for there models.

RE: Rim Size

I am thinking 17" rims. What would be the best size tires? So no airintake needed? Just a K&N Filter? What are some good simple mods? I have brembo rotors and bigger calipers,etc.. I will probably sell the wheels i have on it,Mille Maglia rims. Still want to get the HID lights also, anyone know of a good place to buy them? Thanks for the help.. This is my first Benz and i hope to snag a 93 Sportsline next year to go along with it.. Chris
