RE: Rim Size
If the roads in your area are glass smooth; you don't plan to lower the car; and will be doing some fender modifications, rims larger than 17" will work.
17" will give you a decent amount of sidewall to protect the rims from potholes. The amount of sidewall is important to maintain some degree of speedometer accuracy, since you want to approximate the OEM rolling diameter.
With any wheel purchase, check the offset and wheel width for potential problems with rubbing (inboard and outboard).
As for the intake . . . unless you're going to engineer a truly "cold air" intake system, more than just a tube and cone filter in the enginey compartment, you already have a very good ram air intake system from Mercedes-Benz.
