SportLine

I am picking up a 1993 190E SportLine this weekend out of state. 131K miles on the clock 2.6 6 cyl, clear coat coming off of paint appears to be the only issue.

Is 2,600.00 a deal? assuming it is good mechanical condition.

Can I have the clearcoat removed leaving the paint in tact and re-spray the clear coat? Or would it be just as expensive to have it re-painted? What is the average cost of re-painting the 190 correctly?

thanks!

RE: SportLine

I'm picking a charcoal grey 2.6 up tomorrow , with clearcoat missing and fading on the hood, top, and trunk as well. I was told by a friend who looked at it for me (works in a paint shop)that no shop will respray the clear. His suggestion, a decent repaint from the plastic side panels up. It may cost me 750.00 to 800.00 to have it done, but they will respray 3 coats of clear over the new paint.
Hope this helps.
Will

RE: SportLine

thanks for the info! If you don't mind me asking how many miles, what year, and what are you paying for the car?

I pick mine up next Thursday, then drive it home a little over 1k miles, it's gonna be a long drive but this was the car I was looking for
so it's well worth the trip...I hope:-) [^]

thanks
