Does anyone know if the 16x8 15 slot W129 wheels will fit the 190E?
The wheel design I'm refering to is the one that was used on the 300SL/500SL of the early 90's. This wheel looks like the 15' version on the 190Es of the 80's.
For a regular 190E with the original tire size of 185/65 R15 a 215/50 R16 is the exact replacement. Some people use a 205/50 R16 tire. The 16V tire size will be different.
Ok, guys, About this topic, i just don't understand my owner's book
In the W201 owner's book, for my W201 2.6, says that the winter wheels must be 185/65 R 15 and the summer wheels must be 205/55 R 15. With the tire calculator, those wheels have an error of 2'4% too fast. I've tried the calculator with the 205/60 R15 and the error is only 0'9% too slow. So... why my owners book don't say 205/60 R 15 if is more correct?
That question lets us in another doubt:
If you take the reference of the winter wheels (like correctly said PAWSH) the tire in 16" must be 215/50 R16 with an error of 0%.
But if you take the summer wheels in reference (that is correct too) the 16" tire must be 215/45 R16 with an error of 1'1% too fast.
So...
Wich one I must take in reference????
This is all cause i want to put my original R129 wheels on my W201.

as far as i know a margin or error between +/- 2.5% is considered acceptable by most manufactureres.
Personally i try to hit the nail bang on the head with an exact match to the summer wheels.
Example: I replaced my 215/55R16's with 235/35R18 & 265/30R18's on my E280. (Hope I remembered the right numbers since the car is 1000's of miles away)
