1991 190e belt

Hey guys what's up? [8D] I recently had to buy a new belt since the other broke. Im fairly new to this process and was wondering how to install the new one? I read the manual and it gave me instructions, like starting at the belt tensionor, etc; but it seems pretty hard to reach down into. I was wondering about an easier way to do this whole process? Also, the fan is pretty much in my way. Anyway to make this easier? Thanks a lot:)
Have a nice day

RE: 1991 190e belt

There's no mystery to this job.

Remove the rad fan blades and the shroud, loosen the tensioner bolt then slacken the adjuster nut until the belt is loose enough to remove, fit new belt by putting around the smallest pulley first and the largest pulley last, check the belt sits in the pulley "guides" properly.

Now your supposed to align various markers and then adjust the tensioner nut to tighten belt but in my experince the best way to tension the belt is to turn the tensioner nut until you have about 1 cm of movement in the belt across the top (between idler pulley and coolant pump pulley).

Others may have a different view.

Tighten the tensioner bolt, refit fan blade/shroud.

Mike.
