need tips to rebuild a rusted door bottom

87 190D 2.5:

the bottom bracing (that holds the rubber seal) on 3 of the 4 doors are completely rusted, although the doors looks fine from out side. I think unless I do something right away, the doors will rot through within a year.

Has anyone done a rebuild on this part of the door? Would you mind sharing some insight and tips?

did the rust reach places u can see ?
if not i would suggest removing all the rust, and welding some new material on the bottem..

No, it is on the insde. But I don't have the equipment to weld, and can't afford to have one. Beside, I'm afraid the heat from welding will damage the outside paint.

Is there anything I can use in place of welding?
