I cannot find the cruise control amplifier, or the module in a 1984 2.2L 190d. I checked a salvage 1985 190E and could not find it and had the whole dash apart. I found the airbag sensor, but nothing looking like the silver amplifier box. Help I need to fix my CRUISE!!! I miss it!
Excellent I cannot wait to see if I can find it and get it out tonight!!
Question 2
If I need to get another and cannot fix it will a 190E unit work to replce it? If "it depends" what will I look for to idenitify it is correct. Numbers or pins, or something else?
It is the second thing I thought I would try. I have no idea why the cruise is not working. I saw so many soldering issues listed on the web for 300's I thought I would look at the amplifier in my 190D. It looks great though, no indication that it is loose anywhere and looks fine.
The controller or whatever the silver looking actuator is on the engine could be bad. I cleaned it to free it up and cannot guarantee it works after the cleaning either.
What are some of my options to look into?
How can I test the items?
I do not think I can get the controller (because the wire length is too short) in the car while driving to see if it has power or activates in any way.
Looking for suggestions as to how I may troubleshoot.
I am not fond of my Mercedes dealer here in Raleigh since they are not friendly and do not seem like other garages that try to help DIYers. I feel they want the $$$ and the clientel that just pays!
