RE: Wheel painting...

German cars used Wurth paint, typically silver, to paint the wheels. Wurth paint has been difficult to obtain in the US, but I don't know if that's been resolved. Griots Garage sells a DIY painting kit with a prep and clear coat spray.

RE: Wheel painting...

I have recently painted my wheels.
I cleaned them very well with presurized water and the rest and the aid of a small hard brush.
Then used metalized car paint, the one that you would use to paint the car. Two layers were enough. And then I applied a "double coating" varnish. They have been that way about two months and they look very well.
If I had the time, I would polish the wheels after the varnish to get them shiny.

Best regards.

RE: Wheel painting...

I too have painted several sets at home. See my posts in this thread http://www.benzworld.org/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=242841

The finish on all of them is still standing up fine and even passes scrutiny by concours judges.
