90´ 2.6 valve lifters

Hello everyone!
Does anyone know when those valve lifters should be changed?
I have now 191000km in my car and in every cold start those lifters are pretty noisy until the oilpressure gets up (2-3s).
So,does anyone have same kind of problem in your mercedes?
What is the normal idle rmp of 2.6?
Thanks!

RE: 90´ 2.6 valve lifters

its normal the (older) valve lifters make a little noise at low oil pressure.

It doesnt do any bad to the engine, it only is a little noisy.

and the chain is holden tight too by something hydaulic. ( a chaintighter does that exist ? :p u know what i mean)
so that can make some noise to al low oil pressure.

are u sure the oil is filled till the 'max'-mark. and dont you have oil leacks ?
maybe u can try ticker oil, somethimes it helps they told me.

idle rpm is 890 to 990 "finland eh" cold over there if freezing then you want the thinnest oil 0w/40 full synthetic "it dosnt freeze or sludge up" and flows easy ideal for the lifters because they need that pressure asap

The lifters are hydraulic, self adjusting, so unless they're totally shot, shouldn't need to be replaced. Are you sure that the sound you hear on start up are the lifters, and not the timing chain slapping the guides? That's the more typical startup noise before oil pressure builds up and is indicative of the need to replace the chain tensioner and/or the chain.

RE: 90´ 2.6 valve lifters

I´ve used 10w40 mineral oil in the summer and 5w40 fully sythetic oil in the winter, sometimes we have -30 celcius degrees in winter but I´m using preheater,it would be too hard start every morning to the engine.I´ve tried in -25 degrees to start without heating and the only problem was the gearbox, shifting was a bit slowly at first but after 5 kilometers it started working
