hi all.. im looking to change my car and i am really keen to get a 190e or a diesel one, but from the people i have spoken to, who all say they are great cars, starting them seems to be abit of an issue, particurlarly in the cold, but at normal temps too. Is this really an issue or not from your experiances?
bullshit i think
i live in belgium, temperatures from -20°c to 35°C, i never had any problem, nor friends of mine also having an 190.
Of course a car with worn distributor, filters or sparkplugs wont start when it gets colder.
Never had any problems what so ever with my carburatted 190 from wintermornings with -30c and snowstorm to +30c in the summer. not the case with my chrysler voyager 3.3ltr v6 from 94, that can be hellish to get going from about just a few freesing and downwards.
the 190 might be abit slippery on winterroads tho.. with its light backend and rearwheeldrive but i still choose 190 over voyager, i prefare backwheel drive with manual tranny over forward drive automatic :)
If and I mean a big "IF" everything functions as it is supposed to... These 190e/d cars start like a charm...
Throw old relays, injecters, electronic controls, fuel injection temperature sensors, electric fuel pump componets into the equation and the big "IF" can cease to exist... [1989 190e, 15 years old, 185,000+ miles...]
They are and can be as temperamental as everything else on the road...
