Key/lock thingy question

been contemplating this mod for quiet some time, finall got around to it. has anyone ever taken out the lock cylinder on the passenger side door and replaced it with a blank filler peice from the back door? i got keyless entry and remote start and wanted to get rid of the key cylinder on the passenger side and give it a more modern look like those newer mercedes with a key hole only on the drivers door.

thanks Jippi

RE: Key/lock thingy question

Another option would be to use the W124 door handles that have the imbedded chrome strip, but without the lock. You'd have to have a lot of confidence in the keyless and the condition of your battery.

RE: Key/lock thingy question

no i dont the 124's fit on the 201's? i was just gonna do it to the passenger side one and leave the one on the drivers side alone. i would be so screwed if the battery died ans i took off both lock cylinders....hehehe....i am also trying to get aluminum sills too but i cant find the ones i like with the illumination but ive found iluminated ones for the w124. will they fit? minor mods?

RE: Key/lock thingy question

At the moment I can't recall where I've seen it, but there are "keyhole" plugs that insert into the keyhole but show as a black circle. As for the EL illuminated thresholds, I've only seen the "Mercedes-Benz" ones for the W201 sold thru Gercia.com in England, although www.autorice.com might have others.
