The battery is against the wall in this car. It is a 2.6 not a 2.3. Do I have to remove the battery?

Behind the battery (both the 2.3 and the 2.6) is a divider panel, false wall, barrier, whatever you want to call it, which when removed, exposes a number of relays, including the OVP, A/C, and the fuel pump relay. You do not have to remove the battery, but perhaps you should to aid in your work.
