Pressure release in fuel tank

Hello all.
I have noticed that in my 190E 2.3 (1992) there is always a sudden pressure release in the fuel tank cap when I open it to put fuel.
I would like to know if it is normal that the tank pressure drops while it goes down or if, on the other hand, there is some problem or clogged pipe that should vent the tank and doesn't work. Any of the other cars I have owned does this.
Best regards.

It is normal, and it is actually a vacuum not a prersure.

You should not run the engine with the fuel cap off as it affects the fuek pressure.

I beg to differ with you, here in the States anyway, it's pressure in the fuel tank.

U.S. EPA requirements include that automatic pressure tests be made on the fuel tanks of cars built after a certain date. These tests are what cause the "check engine" light to come on for no apparent reason. Reclosing the fuel cap often resets the light. There are occasions were the pressure is high enough to actually blow droplets of fuel out of the filler pipe, this is obviously a bad situation.
The reason I knowthat it's pressure is because I refuelled the car this morning, and got a face full of vapor...........[:0]
